Erik Dekkers lives and paints from his studio at Manilla.
His love of watercolours and passion for Australian landscape is entirely evident when viewing his artwork. He has been painting for many years pursuing a natural creative flair. Various other mediums have been explored but Erik has always returned to the versatility and beauty that watercolours possess.
His genuine desire to share his passion and skills for watercolours involves small workshops and never fails to ignite someone else's creative spark. Erik has painted along side such internationally recognised water colourists as David Taylor, Alvaro Castagnet, Joseph Zbukvic, Ross Patterson and Rupert Richardson.
Inspiration is found in many places especially whilst travelling to such places as Cape York, Flinders Ranges, Birdsville Track where he produced a fresh depth of colour from his palette to meet the ever changing moods of the landscape. Erik has produced many wonderful paintings of homesteads and undertakes commissions of such.
His many works include scenes from Venice, Tuscany, South of France, Sydney Harbour etc and local scenes are always very warmly received depicting this country at its very best.
